山の駅 たかえ特産品直売所（高江売店)

山の駅 たかえ特産品直売所は、沖縄本島北部・東村高江にある地域密着型の直売所で、地元の暮らしや人の温かさを感じられる場所として親しまれています。
2021年7月にリニューアルオープンし店内は明るく清潔で、高江地区で採れた新鮮な野菜や加工品、日用品、そして観光客にも人気の地場産品が並びます。

弁当やおにぎりの販売も行われており、金曜日の夜には「地域みんなで晩ご飯」という企画が開かれ、ビビンバやスパイスカレー、季節のコロッケなど、家庭的で温かい料理が提供されます。
この直売所は、買い物をするだけでなく、地域の人々がゆっくりと“ゆんたく”（おしゃべり）を楽しむ憩いの場としても大切にされています。
屋上には展望スペースがあり、やんばるの豊かな山並みを一望できるスポットとしても人気です。

また、店内外にはグラフィックデザイナー邊土名えりなさんが手がけた壁画が描かれ、高江小学校の児童や地域住民も制作に参加するなど、地域のつながりを感じられるアート空間になっています。
さらに、周辺の生き物や隠れ家のような飲食店を紹介する「たかえマップ」も配布されており、訪れる人が高江の魅力をより深く知るきっかけにもなっています。
自然と人の温かさが調和した、訪れる価値のあるスポットです。

たかえ食堂は、山の駅 たかえ特産品直売所の一角で週末に開かれる、小さくて温かい雰囲気の食堂です。
地元・高江で採れた食材を使い、素朴でやさしい家庭料理を提供しているのが魅力で、観光客だけでなく地域の人々にも親しまれています。

メニューは固定ではなく、その日の気候や旬の食材に合わせて変わるため、訪れるたびに違った味に出会えるのも楽しみのひとつです。
ビビンバやスパイスカレー、季節のコロッケなど、直売所の主任が心を込めて作る料理はどれも評判が良く、家庭的な温かさが感じられます。
たかえ食堂は、食事を楽しむだけでなく、地域の暮らしや人の温かさに触れられる場所として、多くの人に愛されています。

Taking pride in our citizenship of Higashi Village, we have decided to enact a charter, the provisions of which are laid out hereunder. We will strive in a spirit of pride and responsibility to implement these provisions in order to stimulate local industry and to invigorate the community with a view to building a vital and dynamic agricultural municipality located in a rich natural environment.

村の概要

東村は、沖縄本島北部の東海岸に位置し、北は国頭村及び大宜味村に、南西は名護市に接し、南東は大平洋に面した東西4~8km、南北26kmの細長い村で、 面積は県内で5位の81.79k㎡です。地形は、北の伊湯岳、中央の玉辻山、南西の津波山の国頭山地が村を縦断する形で連なり、台地の山並みが全般的に南東の大平洋に緩やかな斜面をなし、山地の緑の樹海では、国の天然記念物であるノグチゲラやヤンバルクイナなど、多くの貴重な生物が生息しています。
脊梁山地を源に発する大小14の河川が大平洋に注ぎ、福地川、新川川等規模の大きい河川には、県下最大の福地ダム、新川ダムが築かれ、沖縄本島における水源地域として重要な役割を果たしています。
本村は、大正12年(1923)、旧久志村(現在は名護市に合併)から分離独立して東村が誕生しました。村名は、旧久志村の東方に位置していること、大平洋に面し、東の空から赤々と力強く朝日が昇ることから、「日の出るところ東なり」 と称され命名されたと言われています。

OUTLINE OF HIGASHI VILLAGE

Higashi Village is located on the eastern coast of northern Okinawa Island.
Further north are Kunigami Village and Ogimi Village, and to the southwest is Nago City. The village occupies a narrow stretch of land extending between four
to eight kilometers from east to west and 26 kilometers from north to south, with the southeastern part facing out on the Pacific Ocean. With an area of 81.79
square kilometers, Higashi Village is the fifth largest municipality in Okinawa Prefecture. The Kunigami mountain area including lyu-dake in the north, Tama-
chiji-yama in the center, and Tsuha-yama in the south run through the munici- pality. The peaks on the tableland tend on the whole to slope gently in a south-
easterly direction toward the Pacific Ocean. The forest in hilly areas is home to many rare species including Pryer’s woodpecker and the Yanbaru Water Rail,
both of which have been designated by the national government as natural mon-uments.
14 rivers of varying sizes flow out into the Pacific Ocean from sources in the spinal mountain area. The two largest dams in Okinawa Prefecture, Fukuchi Dam and Arakawa Dam, have been built on the two largest rivers, Fukuchi River and Arakawa River. These dams have an important role to play as the main sources of water on Okinawa Island.
Higashi Village came into being in 1923 when it separated from and became independent of the former municipality of Kushi Village, which has now amalga-mated with Nago City. It is said to have received its name, which literally means “east,” because of its location to the east of Kushi Village and because it faces out eastwards onto the Pacific Ocean. The impression of the sun rising in the east (“higashi”) is gained with astonishing vividness as one looks out eastwards at the break of day.

かつては村内の至るところで自生していましたが、現在では、「村民の森つつじ」を設置し保護に努めています。

The Village Flower: AZALEA

Azaleas used to grow wild throughout the municipality, but they are now being carefully cultivated in the Sonmin-no-mori Azalea Park in Higashi Vil Lage.

村の島 ノグチゲラ

沖縄本島北部の山地にしか生息せず天然記念物に指定され絶滅が危惧されています。本村での生息数は増加傾向にあります。

The Village Bird: PRYER’S WOODPECKER

Pryer’s woodpecker is endemic to the hilly regions in the northem part of Okinawa Island. Designated by the Japanese government as a natural monu ment, the species is currently threatened with extinction, although the number in Higashi Village is currently on the increase

村の木ヒルギ

マングローブ林の多くを占める木がヒルギの仲間です。慶佐次清のヒルギ休は、昭和47年に国の天然記念物に指定されています。

A major part of the mangrove forest consists of Hirugi trees. The mangrove forest in Kesaji Bay was designated as a natural monument by the lapanese gov emment in 1972.
